Wales and the West of England.

Grades of Staff for Events and Other Duties

Listed below are descriptions of all grades of staff who are available to work directly for the company or through a subcontractor.

First Aider (FA)

Holder of a First Aid at Work certificate from a HSE approved training centre. Often with the addition of a Medical Gases Certificate and an AED Defibrillation Certificate. Can work alone, more often works under the guidance of an E.M.T. or Ambulance Technician.

 

First Responder (FR)

Holder of one of the following, IHCD First Person on Scene (Basic or Intermediate) Certificate, In house NHS Ambulance Service trained Community First Responder Certificate. Can work alone, more often works under the guidance of an E.M.T. or Ambulance Technician.

 

Emergency Medical Technician - Grade 3 (EMT - G3)

A staff member who has completed a basic E.M.T. course and is in their induction year. These people have usually been working for the company at FA or FR level and are now extending their skills and knowledge base. Staff at this level or higher are the normal crew on our vehicles.

 

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

An experienced E.M.T. who has worked as a G3 for a minimum of 12 months and gained over 200 hours of clinical experience. They also must record all duties done and any Continuous Professional Development completed to stay current. These staff have quite often done specialist training in subjects such as Major Incident Management; Missing Persons Search and Water Rescue.

 

IHCD Ambulance Technician (IHCD AT)

Staff who have completed the 12 week basic ambulance award (Miller Award). These staff are very experienced in all aspects of our work. Some of them are retired NHS paramedics who now work at a more basic level for our company.

 

State Registered Paramedic (SRP)

NHS Paramedics and Paramedic Officers who we hire in from a local South Wales company when we need them. These staff are all experienced in their field and carry the full range of drugs and equipment expected for a paramedic to be able to carry out his duties.
